New Canon 200-600mm Telephoto Lens in the Works?
A new Canon 200-600mm ‘L’ series telephoto lens with a maximum aperture of f/4 may be in the works and may see light of day this year only. The company already has a few long telephoto ‘L’ lenses on offer, viz. the Canon EF 70-300mm f4-5.6L IS USM and the EF 100-400mm f4.5-5.6L IS II USM. These long telephoto lenses comes as a boon for photographers shooting wildlife and sports.
The new Canon 200-600mm lens, if launched, would be competing against the likes of Tamron and Sigma who are already offering similar lens to Canon users. For instance, the Sigma 150-600mm f5-6.3 DG OS HSM Sports and the Tamron SP 150-600mm f5-6.3 Di VC USD are currently ruling the roost in this segment.
