Canon in 2017. What to Expect?

2016 is coming to an end and what we know of it as of now, 2017 is already promising to be an exciting year for Canon users. Canon in 2017 would add to its already impressive tally of DSLRs, lenses and other photography and videography related equipment. Let’s list out a few of those which are sure to get launched from Canon in 2017.

Things to be Launched by Canon in 2017

DSLR:

Canon EOS 6D Mark II:

EOS 6D Mark II launch Canon in 2017

Next version of the Canon EOS 6D Mark II in all likelihood will get launched by March or April. The camera is rumored to have a 24 megapixel sensor along with dual pixel AF, touchscreen, GPS, WiFi and NFC.

Canon EOS Rebel T7s and T7i:

These two entry-level DSLRs would replace the existing Canon EOS Rebel T6s and T6i. The EOS Rebel T7s and T7i would probably get launched first, ahead of the 6D Mark II.

Lenses:

  • A new 18-55 mm kit lens launch is almost certain. it will be called Canon EF-S 18-55 f/3.5-5.6 IS STM II and will be launched along with the new EOS Rebel T7 DSLRs.
  • We could also see another lens getting launched along with the EOS Rebel T7 DSLRs which will be offered with those cameras. We don’t yet know anything about those lens as of now.
  • In the pipeline is a new 85mm lens. Various sources have confirmed the impending launch of this Canon EF 85mm f/1.4L IS USM lens, although no launch date or month have been confirmed as yet.

Point and Shoot:

Powershot SX60 HS Canon in 2017

Two new Canon PowerShot cameras, viz. Canon PowerShot SX70 HS and Canon PowerShot GX 9 Mark II could get launched in 2017. While the SX70 could be launched ahead of CES in January, launch date of the G9 X Mark II is still unknown.

Cinema EOS:

One camera and one anamorphic lens could be launched by Canon in 2017 – Canon Cinema EOS C100 Mark III and the Canon Cinema EOS anamorphic lens. Likely time of release of both these items is said to be NAB in April.
